Timeless Roots

Timeless Roots invites viewers to contemplate the visual paradigms rooted in the grand civilization of ancient Iran. While the Saqqakhaneh movement of the 1960s initiated a renewed engagement with the cultural achievements of the past, many artists since have continued to link the identity of their work to these historic visual traditions, drawing deeply from Iranian signifiers.

Among the recurring aesthetic elements represented in contemporary visual arts are the use of gold, the elimination of perspective, a reverence for nature, radiant color palettes, geometric decorative patterns, calligraphy, narrative structures, and poetic sensibilities—each echoing a timeless cultural heritage reimagined in the present.
